The experience starts with a 4x4 vehicle pick-up at your hotel, followed by a 45 minute long drive out to the sparse desert landscape where buildings are no where to be seen and no city noises can be heard. The dune bashing part of the trip is a bumpy and thrilling experience that will get all the adrenaline junkies beaming. The vehicles travel in a large group and stick close together as they perform their stunts. You will enjoy the extreme slipping, sliding, skidding and the spinning while dune bashing with professional dune drivers.
There are 3 main desert activites that are a must try. The camel ride is an experience that allows guests to discover the desert while on the back of a camel and tour the desert. Sand boarding is an interesting unique adventure sport. Dubai desert has dunes that are as high as 200-300 meters, making it ideal for fast riding. Henna painting inside the camp has been used for hundreds of years in the Middle East and is a grand tradition used at ceremonial events. It lasts for a few days and makes for a great story when your back home.
First, we start with The Tanoura dance which is a form of folkloric dance that is very common in Egypt. Tanoura means skirt in English and it is usually performed by Sufi men for the Sufi music, who spin continuously like the dervish dancers in the Levant and Turkey. Then there is the Fire dance show that includes performances by fire dancers, fire breathers and fire twirlers. Finally, Belly Dancing is an unforgettable experience, this dance has strong influences of different classical styles of the Arab world leaving you mesmerized.
You will get an up-close encounter with herds of magnificent camels in a traditional farm. Besides taking pictures of these friendly animals and being able to feed them, a visit here gives you an opportunity to learn more about the different kinds of camels that can be seen in Dubai. You will also learn about the world famous camel races that attract thousands of visitors every year. Of course, you may show off skills in balancing to your friends and family by taking a leisurely ride on a real camel.
Dine at the Desert
After a crazy day of outdoor fun and adventure, treat yourself with a delicious dinner of grilled barbecues and a variety of different foods around a campfire and unlimited water, juice and soft drinks, while watching a Tanoura dance, Fire dance as well as a belly dance from one of the lady performers. If, however, you just want to relax with a taste of Arabic coffee with dates and sweets, look for a good spot to settle down, and watch the clear twinkling skies above you.
Falcons are the national birds of UAE and are a symbol of force and courage, recognizing the importance of falconry in Arab tradition and culture. This birds where traditionally used for hunting and where the main source of survival in the desert. Falcon trainers will be at the camp to let you hold these majestic birds and demonstrate the hunting procedure of the falcon which is quite scientific. Seeing these falcons and learning about their tradition is a rare opportunity for a hands-on experience.
